a collective for djs, producers & musicians. a creative collab for the people who make nyc dance — once a month, different venues. curated, not open decks.

nyc has more talented djs than set times. cmn grnd. exists to fix the ratio. every event, a handful of local djs, electronic musicians & vocalists each get proper set time on a proper system, in front of a real crowd — friends, family, other djs, producers, and people who just want to dance on a school night.

think matinee dance social: early evening, real sound, home at a reasonable hour — or stay late with us. see up-and-coming djs before they're anywhere. between sets is the point: trade edits, workshop ideas, find your next b2b. common ground — get it?

how it works.

• curated, not open decks.  submit a set. we listen. we book the lineup.
• 45 minutes.  a real set with an arc — not a usb dump. plan it.
• show up.  playing at 11? be there at 9. stay after. this is a hang, not a drive-by.
• bring people.  your crowd is your currency. djs who bring friends & family get first call for the next lineup.
• stay in the lane.  each event has a sound. we'll tell you the lane when you're booked — plan your set for the room.
• support the room.  dance for the other djs the way you want them to dance for you.
• keep it moving.  changeovers are tight. know the gear, be ready two tracks early.

djs, electronic musicians & vocalists — submit to play. slots are limited and curated: submitting doesn't guarantee a set, but every submission gets a listen. vocalists: we'll pair you with djs & producers in the room.

producers — submit unreleased tech house or house for consideration in our djs' sets. you keep all rights; you're just letting us play it in the room.

all hands on decks is a free dj camp for kids with hand differences, run through hospital for special surgery and sponsored in conjunction with 343 labs. cmn grnd. is how the nyc dj community keeps it funded — you dance, a kid learns to mix.
